Spielwerke Introduction

Spielwerke helps you to develop the tools you need to create your game better and quicker than you could do it from the scratch. It does this in a couple of ways: Firstly the "basic stuff" will be running very quickly (think days, not months) - and "basic stuff" here also includes things that should be in every tool, but make it only occassionally, like

  • A multi-step undo/redo,
  • An intuitive 2d/3d view which can visualize anything you can throw at it,
  • Debugging or tweaking your game by connecting your editor to your running game and inspecting and modifying the live game data,
  • A powerful "blueprint" system, which allows you to quickly place down game objects with the same preset values and change those common values all at once.
 
Starting with all of this, you can concentrate on developing the features which really make a difference to your game, and give your team the power to make a great game.
What's more, because our components are all engine- and game-independent, the main functionality of your tools will not change from game to game and your team will be able to reuse the experience and know-how they gather over and over again, increasing their productivity and efficiency.
